Basic Instrument Rating (BIR) (BIR)
BIR (Basic Instrument Rating) is a simplified IFR rating for General Aviation pilots. It does not require the full ATPL theoretical course. Operational limitations compared to full IR – see regulations.
Prerequisites
- Licence: PPL(A) or CPL(A)
- Medical: Class 2
- Flight time: min. 50 h as PIC on cross-country flights
How to obtain
Training: e-learning (approx. 55 h), theory (approx. 8 h), simulator (approx. 30 h), flights (approx. 10 h). Duration approx. 2–3 months. Exam.
Approximate cost
Approx. PLN 31,000 (school price lists). Cheaper alternative to full IR for limited scope.
