LAPL(A) (Light Aircraft Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) is the recreational pilot licence under EASA. It requires less practical training than PPL(A) and a lighter medical (LAPL). It entitles you to fly light aeroplanes under certain conditions. You can later add training and convert to PPL(A).
Theoretical training – scope similar to PPL, theoretical exam.
Practical training – minimum 30 h flight time (less than PPL), including solo and navigation flights.
Practical exam – skill test with examiner.
After obtaining LAPL(A) you can later extend to PPL(A) (extra hours and exam).
Approximate cost (theory + practice + exams, medical): approx. PLN 23,000–32,000. Lower than PPL(A) mainly due to fewer flight hours. Indicative prices; amount depends on school and aircraft type.
